We are pleased to announce that the Second Beijing International Pharmaceutical & Chemical Intellectual Property Forum will be held on August 5-8, 2009, in Beijing, China. The Forum is jointly organized by the China Intellectual Property Society (CIPS), the Chinese American Chemical Society (CACS), and the Division of Chemistry and the Law of the American Chemical Society (ACS-CHAL), and is endorsed by the National Bureau of Intellectual Property of China.

We invite you all to the 2nd IP Forum!

The 1st Beijing International Pharmaceutical and Chemical IP Forum was successfully held in April of 2006. It attracted over 300 participants from 12 countries. The event was covered by Reuters and the Chinese press, including China Central Television. Like the 1st IP Forum in April 2006, the Second Forum will provide a platform for discussions on Chinese and international practices in IP law, particularly patent laws as applied in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The Forum also aims to create business and networking opportunities among participants.

The program will be tailored to the interest of the following specialists:

• IP practitioners in the legal profession working in pharmaceutical and chemical fields;
• Technical experts from pharmaceutical and chemical companies who are involved in the inventive process;
• Those involved in technology transfer, outsourcing, and licensing activities;
• Those from government agencies dealing with legislative and regulatory issues; and
• Researchers in the relevant fields.

The Forum will invite experts in IP laws from the U.S., Europe, China and the rest of Asia to discuss the legal basis for relevant IP laws to pharmaceutical and chemical industries, overall strategies in maximizing legal protection of IP assets, tactical maneuvers in executing legal protection, and differences in IP laws and practices in the U.S., Europe, China and the rest of Asia. Analysis of high-profile relevant IP cases will be highlighted, and breakout sessions will be conducted to allow maximum audience participation.
